Threat Thursday!
In today’s online world, new scams are popping up every day, making it crucial for everyone to know how to spot them. Emerging scams can range from fake emails to false ads that trick you into giving up personal information. First, keep an eye out for unusual email addresses or messages that sound too good to be true. Scammers often create a sense of urgency, like claiming you’ve won a prize or need to confirm information quickly. Also, be cautious with links—hover over them first to see where they lead!
Another key aspect is grammar and spelling. Many scams are poorly written, which is a big giveaway. If a message looks off, it probably is! Always double-check the source of any message before responding.
To avoid getting caught out, remember a few simple steps: First, never click on suspicious links or attachments. Legitimate companies won’t ask for sensitive information via email. Second, use strong, unique passwords and consider a password manager for extra protection. Lastly, enable two-factor authentication wherever possible to add an extra layer of security.
